Tailored Therapy for Every Need
OUR SERVICES
Wide Bay Therapy offers assessment and interventions to all ages, from infants to the elderly.
Services are aimed at the specific needs of the client and their families and are based on evidence and researched outcomes. Assessments and therapy sessions can be held at the Wide Bay Therapy clinic, in the home, at school or via Telehealth.
Services Provided
With our paediatric and adult clients, we can provide interventions aimed at improving fine and gross motor skills, visual motor and visual perception skills, sensory processing and cognition, social skills and participation in activities of daily living skills.

A functional assessment is often requested by the NDIS, to help establish your baseline functional abilities across all areas of daily living. An occupational therapist is the ideal health professional to complete this, as we focus on you as a whole person and your ability to interact with your environment, people and self.
Utilising a range of assessments, observations and interviews, we can communicate clearly and effectively what your strengths and skills are and what areas of life you may need extra support with. Wide Bay Therapy has been providing this niche service for over six years, supporting their clients to receive funding that meets their needs.
This process is completed over a number of appointments, with a comprehensive report provided.
-
Our experienced occupational therapists will complete a range of assessments to determine the capacity of the client with regard to their housing requirements.
Standardised assessments, observations and gaining collateral from stakeholders and informal supports will enable a comprehensive and detailed report to be provided, reflecting on formal care needs and funding requirements. If a client has a housing goal, we are able to support them in this transition into independent and safe accommodation.
Due to the extensive nature of the assessment process and relevant reporting, this will require multiple occupational therapy appointments.

Being safe at home and promoting independence is sometimes as simple as recommending home modifications. We can help identify barriers to home access and problem-solve to find optimal environmental solutions to meet your goals.
With 20 years of experience completing complex home modifications, our Director and Senior Occupational Therapist can assess your home for more major access improvements. She has successfully obtained funding for external/internal access lifts, kitchen and bathroom modifications, major ramps and bedroom/hallway modifications.
Working in collaboration with local builders who are leaders in environmental accessibility, we can ensure this process is smooth from start to finish, whilst considering and listening to your needs as the client.

Paediatric occupational therapy assessment and interventions are a cornerstone of Wide Bay Therapy. We have curated a wonderful, calming and welcoming environment where children love to come for their sessions with our OT’s and OT Assistants.
The journey starts with a comprehensive assessment phase, which includes an interview with the parents/guardians about your child and the difficulties they are experiencing. We complete a range of standardised and non-standardised assessments to establish your child’s strengths and baseline skills. Goal setting helps us understand what is important for you and your child, and is completed in the early phases.
From there, we can offer regular OT sessions with your child in the clinic and in some local schools (please enquire). To consolidate skills learnt in sessions, we often recommend supplementing the OT appointments with OT assistant sessions to further improve outcomes.
Areas that we can focus on, but are not limited to, include fine motor skills, handwriting, gross motor skills, activities of daily living, toileting, understanding behaviours and what is being communicated, sensory strategies and emotional regulation, social skills and activity engagement, building relationships and life transitions.
We can also provide assistive technology advice and recommendations.

Children receive weekly sessions with Tatiana at school or in the clinic, giving your child an opportunity to work towards their goals quickly and effectively.

Activities of daily living are what we do best! Our occupational therapists can work with you to help you achieve independence, access and engagement in daily life tasks. Whether this is showering independently, baking a cake or paying your bills at the post office, we are here to help you develop the skills to tick off these goals.
Through effective problem-solving and the implementation of realistic strategies, we will work with you every step of the way. This service is excellent for our young adults who are looking to transition into independent living in the future.
-
Assistive technologies (or equipment) can help achieve independence, increased safety and autonomy, improved dignity, and quality of life. It is important that your occupational therapist has a thorough understanding of you as a person, your environment, and your goals before trialling and prescribing assistive technologies.
We will work closely with you to consider, trial and complete the necessary applications to obtain what you need to improve independence and access. This equipment may include but is not limited to, wheelchairs (manual/powered), lift-out chairs, transfer aids, beds, shower and toilet aids, and various kitchen and bathroom accessories.
The process includes a comprehensive assessment of your needs, a review of the environment, trial and consideration of various assistive technologies, completion of an application to seek funding approval and delivery and training of the recommended item.
-
Support for psychosocial disabilities is important for clients to achieve success in their daily lives, remain engaged and connected and cope with daily life stressors. We are proud to offer psychosocial occupational therapy services at Wide Bay Therapy, including assessment, report writing and ongoing interventions.
Areas we can support include cognitive strategies, emotional and sensory regulation, social engagement, communication, and establishing self-care routines.
-
Wide Bay Therapy can assist you in applying for the NDIS by completing a functional capacity assessment and comprehensive report. This report uses NDIS-friendly language and describes your abilities and difficulties clearly, taking into consideration the NDIS Legislation and Rules.
The assessment process can take place in our clinic or your home, with a report provided after completion of the assessments.
